Buddha for Peace was a special commission for Roundabout. Known for his composite portraits, Kim Dong Yoo adopted a modified approach for this project. Making up the likeness of the Buddha is not just one person but a distinguished assembly of peacemakers, innovators, heroes, and heroines of humanity: they include personages such as Mother Teresa, Mohandas Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King, Jr., the Dalai Lama, Helen Keller, Nelson Mandela, and many others.
A poster version of this painting were produced and given for free to visitors to the Roundabout exhibition at the City Gallery Wellington in New Zealand.
